Curriculum vitae of Igor Bogaert

The baritone Igor Bogaert studied singing at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague with Meinard Kraak. He participated in international masterclasses by, among others, Cristina Deutekom, Meinard Kraak and Rudolf Jansen, David Wilson-Johnson, Diane Forlano, Barbara Pearson, Theresa Berganza and José Cura.

Igor performs a variety of oratorios. His repertoire ranges from Bach-cantatas to the Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, from the Mass and the Requiem Canticles by Strawinsky to the Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini. In September 2001, he was finalist at the Erna Spoorenberg Singing Contest in the Netherlands. In May 2003 he reached the finals at the Klaudia Taev International Competition for Young Singers in Estonia and he won the award for the best performance of the mandatory  Ave Maria by Schubert.

Regarding the Lieder-repertoire, Igor particularly likes to sing song-cycles. He took part in a masterclass by Rudolf Jansen and Meinard Kraak about song-cycles by Poulenc. Igor prefers the adventurous Lieder-repertoire en he does not shun 20th century music. Apart from the Schubert song-cycles, his repertoire includes, among others,  Kernerlieder opus 35 and Liederkreis opus 24 by Schumann, 6 Monologe aus Jedermann by Martin, L’Horizon chimérique by Fauré and Songs and Dances of Death by Moussorgsky. He performs frequently with his pianist Jan Willem Nelleke.

Igor frequently appears on stage. In order to develop his operatic skills he participated in masterclasses and courses by Henk Smit, Cristina Deutekom and David Prins. He played the following operatic roles: the role of Don Quichotte in El Retablo de Maese Pedro by De Falla; the double role Barak/Pantalone in Turandot by Busoni, the role of Uberto in La Serva Padrona by Pergolesi and the role of Bob in The old Maid and the Thief by Menotti. He also played the role of Count during the premiere of the chamber opera Les Mascarets by Antal Sporck.
Among the conductors Igor performed with are Reinbert de Leeuw, Jurjen Hempel and Erki Pehk.
